Michelle Ma is a talented soprano, singing coach, and choral conductor based in Hong Kong. A passionate and dedicated musician, Michelle has established herself as a versatile performer and educator in the classical music field.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music with a major in voice performance from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), where she studied under the guidance of renowned principal teachers Yuki Ip Po Ching and Chan Siu Kwan. Her vocal artistry has been further enriched by coaching with distinguished mentors such as Ronald Cheung, Saffron Chung, Caleb Woo, Arièle Zanini, and Amanda Waltzer.

As a performer, Michelle has achieved remarkable success in various competitions. She was the First Prize Winner in Operatic Solo at the 76th and 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals (2024, 2025) and received top honors at international competitions such as the American International Music Competition Cleveland (2023) and Provocal 2024. Additionally, she secured the Second Prize at the Birmingham International Music Competition in 2024. Michelle has also been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Hong Kong Children’s Choir Music Scholarship (2023-24) and the HKSAR Talent Development Scholarship (2024-25).

Michelle’s professional experience includes her work as a private singing tutor since 2023, during which she has helped students develop healthy singing techniques and achieve success in ABRSM exams and school music festivals. She has also served as a singing tutor at Leo Music (2024-2025) and Seasons Music Studio (2023-2025), where she nurtured young talents with her expertise and dedication. In addition, she is the choral conductor at Heung To Middle School (HK) since 2024, leading their choir to win two gold prizes in the 2025 Joint School Music Competition.

As a performer, Michelle is an active member of the Opera Hong Kong Chorus since 2023, contributing her voice to productions such as Il Trovatore and various gala concerts. She has also appeared as a guest soloist at events like the HKBU Foundation annual dinners (2023, 2024) and SingFest HK in 2024. Michelle’s artistry has been further showcased as a Young Artist for the KALOS Community Program (2024-2025) and as an academy representative performer at HKBU commencements in 2023 and 2024.

Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, with intermediate proficiency in German, Michelle is well-equipped to connect with a wide range of audiences and students. Her dedication to her craft and her students, combined with her exceptional talent and achievements, has cemented her reputation as a rising star in the world of classical music.
